The Canvas Chronicles - October Edition 2023

Our October Inspiration

October is often seen as the month that brings on the winter season. The cool air, the warmness of the leaves and the muted colors gives way to the seasons changing and new things beginning. The light chill in the early morning air and the smell of warm cider aids this transition. Friday night football games and local fall festivals leave us excited for the upcoming holiday season. This month we have been inspired by casual, grounded interiors that welcome friends and family.

During this season, our eye is drawn to neutral colors, small scale prints, and layered looks. Pastel pumpkins, wicker, and cream color palettes set the tone for warm, charming interiors. Rich, stained, antique pieces that are an ode to the past create an effortless sophistication in any space. Textures like a plaid wool blanket give us that warm and cozy feeling that we love during this season.

This month, Canvas & Clay is continuing to highlight Camille Place.

Located in Monroeville, Alabama, Camille Place’s mission is “to provide refuge and restoration to survivors of human trafficking and to empower them through the renewal of spirit, soul and body.” Camille Place desires to break systemic cycles of trafficking and bring lasting freedom to exploited girls.

The 501c3 nonprofit organization works to provide care and rehabilitation to girls ages 6 to 19 who have been victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking.

For the last four weeks, Canvas & Clay has been working to design the outdoor area for Camille Place. At the end of this month, we will be installing the space and finally get to see everything come together for this sweet home.

Both Canvas & Clay and Camille Place are still seeking donations to help fund the outdoor space, as well as donations to further everyday operations at the home. Specific needs are Walmart and Sam’s gift cards. To make a donation, visit https://www.camilleplace.com/donate
