The Canvas Chronicles - September Edition 2023
Our September Inspiration
In the South, September often denotes the end of one season and the beginning of another. It serves as a homey middleground between a humid summer and an airy autumn, soaking in the last of the long days and greenery before the chilly air makes the leaves turn.
With this in mind, our inspiration at this time of year draws from rich, neutral tones that create a September-like space. The spaces we love are ones that incorporate delightful shades of brown, green and cream, crafting an inviting atmosphere
Mindfully and lightly layering allows spaces to maintain their elegance and timelessness while in transition to the cooler months. Just like our wardrobes, our September designs reflect lingering elements of summer, while incorporating cozier components for the incoming cooler weather.
Mixing patterns and textures is a great way to achieve depth this season while forgoing the entanglement of more physical layers. The simplicity of bamboo, or the intricacy of rattan, make for easy eye-catching additions to any room without forcing a space to lose its timelessness. Our inspiration in any space this month is to maintain a crisp interior.
This month, Canvas & Clay is highlighting Camille Place as the nonprofit for September. Located in Monroeville, Alabama, Camille Place’s mission is “to provide refuge and restoration to survivors of human trafficking and to empower them through the renewal of spirit, soul and body.” Camille Place desires to break systemic cycles of trafficking and bring lasting freedom to exploited girls.
The 501c3 nonprofit organization works to provide care and rehabilitation to girls ages 6 to 19 who have been victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking.
This month, Canvas & Clay wants to help fund furnishing the new building. To learn how you can give, visit https://www.camilleplace.com/donate.
