The Canvas Chronicles - September 2022 Edition
September Inspiration:
Each month we consistently find ourselves looking to the outdoors with September being no different. As the seasons begin to shift and our favorite plant, hydrangeas, start turning a moody golden brown we are embracing the pops of color this season brings. Warm, grounded neutrals with layers of jewel tones mirror the new bloom of Zinnias. We have seen this reflected in our interiors. In the studio this month we have also been working with several neutral palettes while bringing green from the outside in. We are looking forward to the cooler weather and pops of color this season brings!
Designer tip:
To grid or not to grid… This has been the question lately.
We have been working on lots of new construction homes and found ourselves having lots of conversations on the desire to have window grids or not to have window grids- also known as grilles or muntins. Our experience is that our clients love natural light. We love natural light! Who doesn’t? It brings so much joy! While looking at inspiration images, one of the common themes are lots of windows and 9 times out of 10 those windows will have grids. These grids add so much charm to each space. The more modern homes will eliminate the grids and sometimes a client will eliminate based off budget; however, Canvas & Clay will always vote YES to grids. We love the added character and charm that the muntins bring into the home! Do us a favor and have a look at your inspiration images. In the breakfast, living, bright room images that you see, what draws you to that room? Do the windows have grids? We bet they do! Invest in your windows! They can make a home!

“When you pray, things change. You change. Others change. The atmosphere changes. Communication with the Father shifts everything as you remember that all must answer to Him and that HE IS GOOD.” Cleerely
“Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”
